Twitter will give US employees a paid holiday on Election Day

The social media giant will also give free time for its employees to go out and vote in the rest of the world.

Twitter will give its employees in the United States a paid day off on the day of the November election in the country and will also offer its employees the required time to go out and vote.

“Given the importance of voting, from now on and for national election days that occur on a weekday, employees will have a day off with pay,” Twitter wrote in a memo that was reported by CNBC . “As the United States presidential election falls on a business day (Tuesday, November 3), we will plan to close all United States offices that day,” the twitter said.

Twitter previously allowed employees up to two hours of paid time off to vote.

The decision comes after Twitter’s announcement to give the Juneteenth as a holiday, a day commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.
