The Qualcomm Snapdragon 775 (775G) will be the main processor of the Android mid-range smartphones for 2021 and will succeed the Snapdragon 765G, a processor that has been used in many popular smartphones like the OnePlus Nord or the Pixel 5. Furthermore, With a reported release scheduled for the end of March, a new leak will reveal to us today all the details about the new Qualcomm processor from the 700 series.
The leak is an image that has all the details of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 775, with the first highlight being feature is the 5nm microarchitecture, such as the Snapdragon 888.
As far as memory is concerned, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 775 will be compatible with LPDDR5 RAM at 3200 MHz and LPDDR4X at 2400MHz, also having support for UFS 3.1 storage. Like the Snapdragon 888, the new Snapdragon 775 also has a triple ISP (Image Signal Processor), thanks to the new Spectra 570. This image processor will be able to record 4K images at 60FPS and use up to three 28MP sensors simultaneously, or a 64MP sensor and or 20MP second at 30FPS.
As you would expect, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 775 will have 5G connectivity thanks to the integrated modem, with the advantage of having support for mmWave 5G and Sub-6 GHz connectivity, while the Snapdragon 765G only had access to the second. The new SoC will arrive with support for Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 and, of course, 4G LTE.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 775: there are still doubts about its name
Despite everything pointing to this processor being known as Qualcomm Snapdragon 775, the truth is that the possibility of accompanying the Snapdragon 888 is still on the table, being called, precisely, Snapdragon 788.
According to Qualcomm, the option for “888” was merely superstitious, since in Chinese culture, this number represents luck and prosperity. In the case of a possible “Snapdragon 788” this would not make much sense, but there remains the possibility that Qualcomm would like to align the naming of its two best processors in each range, symbolically. Whatever the name, everything indicates that we will get to know all its details in March this year.
