OnePlus today announced in China the OnePlus 10 Pro . The new flagship is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest high-end SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, brings a new photo module co-developed with Hasselblad, and retains the same overall dimensions as the OnePlus 9 Pro, although it embeds a more big battery and faster charging.
As with most of this year’s Chinese smartphones, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC will power the OnePlus 10 Pro, promising 30% faster gaming performance, 400% faster AI processing, and more power consumption. low, thanks to its 4 nm etching process. Its 5G modem is capable of reaching (theoretical) speeds of up to 10 Gbps.
To avoid the overheating issues that plagued many 2021 flagships, OnePlus has announced a new “spatial cooling system”, made up of many different sheets of heat sink materials, which represent a total surface area of around 55% of an A4 sheet.
LTPO 2.0 adaptive AMOLED display
OnePlus wanted to highlight its new “True LTPO 2.0” screen, a more recent version of the “Fluid AMOLED” panel also called “Dynamic AMOLED” in Samsung’s technical sheets. The new screen promises faster refresh rate changes between 1 and 120 Hz. In an animation posted on social networks, OnePlus explains that the LTPO 2.0 screen can go from 120 Hz to 1 Hz in 75 ms, compared to 700 ms on the previous generation.
This faster switching further reduces battery consumption, to the point that OnePlus announces that the screen consumes less power than the 90 Hz panels found on other smartphones. All that tech talk aside, the OnePlus 10 Pro retains the 6.7-inch screen size of its predecessor, as well as the QHD + resolution with 3216 x 1440 pixels (525 dpi for a 20.1: 9 aspect ratio).
Faster charging both wired and wireless
Although it retains the same overall dimensions as the OnePlus 9 Pro, the OnePlus 10 Pro manages to carry a larger dual-cell battery, with a capacity of 5,000 mAh.
The new flagship of OnePlus is compatible with the supplied Oppo 80W SuperVOOC charger, as well as with the optional AirVOOC charger for wireless charging up to 50 W. According to the manufacturer, the battery can be fully charged in 32 minutes with SuperVOOC and 47 minutes wireless. The OnePlus 10 Pro also offers reverse wireless charging, allowing users to charge smartwatches and headphones that are compatible with the Qi standard.
A second generation Hasselblad camera
The OnePlus 10 Pro is the brand’s second flagship to benefit from the partnership with Hasselblad, bringing the Swedish brand’s color science to the smartphone. The smartphone’s three cameras are capable of recording 12-bit RAW images, as well as a new RAW + mode, combining computational photographic processing with RAW files.
OnePlus has taken special care in choosing the main sensors used on the OnePlus 10 Pro, starting with the wide-angle camera, which uses a 48M Sony IMX789 sensor and f / 1.8 aperture with OIS. The ultra-wide-angle camera uses a 50 MP Samsung JN1 sensor with f / 2.2 aperture and 150 ° field of view, while the telephoto lens relies on an unidentified 8 MP sensor with a stabilized lens, an f aperture. /2.4 with a x3.3 optical zoom.
ColorOS in China and OxygenOS for the rest of the world
Launched under Oppo’s ColorOS 12.1 in China, OnePlus announced that the global versions of the OnePlus 10 Pro will be equipped with OxygenOS 12. Both overlays are based on Android 12 , and in the case of OxygenOS, also bring a revised interface. , as well as new features from Google.
In China, OnePlus announced that the smartphone is the first to receive TÜV SÜD Level A certification for “36 months of smoothness”. This suggests that the performance of the OnePlus 10 Pro will not degrade significantly after three years, which we will be eager to test.
