Nikon India has introduced the Z 8, a mirrorless camera designed for both video and still photography that delivers sophisticated features in a tiny and portable chassis. It is meant to provide dependable and uncompromising performance while incorporating technology from the flagship Nikon Z 9.
The Z 8 camera is intended for creators who want to communicate their story visually stunningly. It is a versatile and small video recording system that supports a variety of peripherals, reducing the need for extra gear during shoots.
During 4K UHD and Full HD video recording, the camera’s High-Res Zoom mode allows it to zoom up to 2x the focal length. It also has a 4-axis tilting monitor, can record in 4K UHD/60p for up to 125 minutes and 8K UHD/30p for up to 90 minutes.
The Pre-Release Capture function on the camera allows users to capture up to 1 second before or 4 seconds after hitting the shutter button. Its autofocusing recognises about 3% of the human face size in the frame and offers several AF modes to accommodate varied shooting conditions.
The camera’s autofocus has a wider detection range in low-light situations and supports the HLG (HEIF) format for 10-bit still photos with richer tonal gradation.

The Z 8 camera also includes portrait photography enhancement capabilities such as skin softening, portrait impression balance effect, and colour temperature changes. It is eco-friendly and dust-and-drip resistant, with a VR lock and dual coating to protect the optical filter and image sensor.
The camera features a Real-Live Viewfinder for shooting fast-moving scenes without blackout, and the strong Vibration Reduction (VR) system assures stable photos. The MB-N12 Power Battery Pack extends shooting and recording time, and the camera has two USB ports for power and data transfer.
From May 23, 2023, the Nikon Z 8 will be available for purchase both online and offline through authorised dealers for Rs. 3,43,995.
