After whispers and teasers, HTC has officially announced that their upcoming U series phone, which will support the VIVERSE platform, will go on sale on May 18. The teaser depicts the phone’s screen with a slightly visible punch-hole in the centre, correlating with past leaks.
It will be the HTC U23 Pro running Android 13 and powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, according to a Geekbench listing. The phone is also rumoured to have an 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version.
According to a new engineering sample leak, the phone will include a 108MP main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), as well as 3 other cameras that should be ultra-wide, depth, and macro cameras, like most other smartphones.
It also stated that a side-mounted fingerprint scanner will be included on the phone. The phone is rumoured to have a 4500mAh battery with capability for wireless charging, a 120Hz AMOLED screen, and plastic for the middle and back frames.
When the phone becomes official the next week, we should know the full list of specifications and the pricing.
